This series starts out really cringey, like, REALLY REALLY cringey. The MC isn't a good guy, but thats part of the genius of it. Hes not supposed to be this good heroic guy. Hes a total pervert, a shut in who never got any in his life, and now is getting a second chance at life so hes making the most of it. The creepiness of him grooming his neighbor to become the perfect woman for him aside (and yes, it is creepy at least in principle because his mind is that of an adult) he still does end up becoming a fine man and husband in the later episodes. I'm not sure how to count the fact that his body is that of a kid though, so maybe that has something to it, a biologically 30 year old person with the sexual hormones of a teen or younger would probably be insatiably horny, so this may be a realistic representation too. Really don't know how all this is gonna end when Eris realizes she pissed away her chance at being with the guy she loved and broke his heart completely just because her own stupid pride wouldn't allow her to be with him while she's too weak to help fight a litteral godlike entity. Dumbest, chick, ever.... but at least his heart was healed and he found love. Anime tropes would say that shes gonna come back and it'll he a catfish as usual, but eventually they'll all be forced together and become a thruple, and at that point the cliche would be complete.. Still, I enjoyed most of this series, 8/10, totally worth reading. Just keep in mind that he is kinda scummy especially early on, but it is at least always someone his physicalbage or older he ends op going for so hes probably not a pedo

Oh my god I cant even make it to chapter 6... This manga is absolutely so disgusting, it's like it was written by a frat dude that refused to grow up and wrote this to justify their actions. Not only is the storyline EVERYWHERE but there's so much pedophelia involved that it makes me sick to my stomach. SPOILERs: The dad abuses his son, cheats on his wife(by raping their maid) and gets bestfriends pregnant at the same time. Let's not mention that the MC is a 30+ year old man who prays on the little girls and says it's bc their 'loli' so he cant resist thinking ab them like that. This manga is just so horrible, I feel bad for the editors and translators that had to work with this pos.

i liked the 1st ep of anime and i liked it. it reminded me of beginning after the end. i am not much of a patient. so i decieded ro read the manga while waiting for the next ep. it had the ecchi tag so i knew i wont like it that much. i dont need fanservices. as if that wasnt enough this even had ntr. yes i am not even kidding.

I really regret reading this one and I don't know why some people call this a masterpiece when the mc just didn't do something right at the start like his father cheating on his mother like wtf I don't know if this is what he said at the part where he explains why is the maid pregnant or something (can't quite remember cause I want this shitty thing to be removed from my stupid as* brain) I think mc said when he went to the bathroom he heard his father threatening the maid and said to spread the legs widely and wtf why didn't stop it I hate it ughh stupid author ohhh one more thing People say this is a bit realistic? Yeahh right people having harem just because it's "ISEKAI" bruh that's pure trash you got there why can't they just make something like a romance with only one love interest it's still better than other piece of shitty perverted mc and this is the reason why I prefer otome game reincarnation cause even though it feels like the lead will have a harem and at the same time they just want to survive and also one of the reason isekai is hated because of Harem and shits they just destroyed the story progress they just go cockblock here and there bruhh don't make a harem story if you are weak (not related in mushoku cause I don't think it has this shit but I hate cheating so fck it) (I'm just here to let out my feelings and just go with it hate me like I care and the end)

This series tries to spice things up in various ways. While it does follow some of isekai tropes, your isekai experience won’t prepare you on some twists and turns the story does. The first issue is main protagonist. Despite how it may seem in the beginning he isn’t portrayed in manner of typical escapism for NEETs. The series goes to extreme type of degenerated and damaged personality, with as extreme reason to be so. It makes especially in the beginning the MC look really creepy [1]. The way he was bullied is so extreme it comes as unbelievable, but it does work as way to gain sympathy from reader. In my opinion the series doesn’t try to glorify NEET lifestyle. In fact, MC is motivated by his previous experience to do exact opposite. He tries to avoid same mistakes. He has to overcome his anxieties in the process. While the MC is primary focus most of supporting characters play role in the story and even if they aren’t around, there is a chapter or few panels showing what are they doing elsewhere. As the story starts it already shows signs of doing things different [2]. The biggest difference is not so obvious until the first arc ends [3]. The second arc is in many ways different from previous. And so is every subsequent larger segment of the story. Initially I was not a fan of that twist, but as it was elaborated and shown from various perspectives it did have some interesting things in it. Personal favourite would be, when MC returns home [4]. However, I’m not super excited about the third arc [5]. The story is following MC over several years through his new life. It has some overarching plot [6], but so far it didn’t progress much. Aside from MC it has decently sized amount of side characters. I liked MC’s new family especially the dad. Eris even if bit stereotypical becomes gradually likable character. Princess Ariel is interesting character as she is neither completely good nor evil. Sylphiette so far, she is used mostly as the girl, who passes as a guy [7] for some reason. Roxy is likeable, but she doesn’t do for the story much in long run. Later on, the series introduces all members of the parent’s adventure party. One of them is decently written, others so far didn’t show any true depth.

Saw the trailer for the anime and I was like "didn't I read that thing?" so I came here but I didn't update it so I had to go skip read to catch up again. I immediately remembered that I hated this. I enjoy isekai and bath in them daily so when I started this one it was the same. Similar beginning with OP MC and all but quickly came the cheating chapter, that was the first blow. I didn't personally mind his perverted personality at all.

The first like 20 chapters were really good. But after the random teleportation thing happened, it turned to shit. It randomly skips to events that aren't explained at all. The main character is pretty bland, and while he has character development, his personality is super flat. Also, this isn't something I would consider a harem considering he switches girls every 10 chapters. This had so much potential I really wish the author would have not been lazy about it.

It's not a generic isekai. The story is interesting and entertaining. The MC will live his new life by according more importance to what he didnt in his previous life. Basically, his love interest and his family. It will be a big theme there. In fact the story is based on that so.

I think I might like this'un. Sure, it feels a bit like a Greatest Hits of isekai tropes, but I think it does a pretty good job making them feel like a natural part of this story. And, yes, it does have a harem, but it mainly sticks with three girls (Roxy, Sylphy, and Eris) and seems to be taking time to actually develop a believable emotional connection with each of them. In many ways, the romances are the core of the story and the adventuring and quests are just there to keep it fresh. It definitely has some low points in its storytelling (like with how it glosses over months and years of time or how overpowered and plot-armored Rudeus is), but overall I found it enjoyable and entertaining. And at least with the plot-armor, the most extreme examples are explained by Rudeus following Hitogami's advice. Hitogami is a sketchy god who seems to be trying to manipulate Rudeus to push fem down a path that would benefit the god in some unknown way. I like this aspect of the story--it creates a large-scale plot which we the readers have very little insight into but which we know is super relevant, and we don't know if Rudeus is being led astray when fe follows Hitogami's advice.

As an entry in the modern isekai genre, Mushoku Tensei falls short in terms of storytelling, in particular pacing and world-building. It's hard to care about the rather shallow and bland characters. The characters are difficult to relate too and both their interactions and behaviours are at times hard to believe-- they also don't seem to matter to the on-rails story to begin with. It plays the stereotypes and tropes of the genre entirely straight but somehow manages to feel patchy and disjointed nevertheless. I get the feeling this is another example of a work that is best appreciated somewhere inbetween the novel and adaptations, but neither rendition will really stand on its own-- an unfortunate reality of so much isekai. Every plot device is a "deus ex machina", which is really quite unfortunate, and I'm guessing there will be tons of plot armour as the action picks up.

Dropped almost immediatly so I can't really say how the story progresses but you don't actually follow his character from birth. You see him as a baby for one second and then BOOM little kid capable of intermediate level magic. The beginning is sorta just a crappy version of The Beginning After the End. Also, warning but the kid is a little perv. Not endearing at all.
